Hay is a 100% natural material that fulfills many different needs. First it helps to maintain regular intestinal motility and it is excellent as a bedding and nesting material. It also has a very low calories content, so it aids in keeping animals lean, since caged pets usually don´t get to exercise enough. Dandelion is a well known herb for its beneficial effects on the liver and as a blood depurative. It is a powerful diuretic when used concentrated, so it helps eliminate toxines from the body. Pellets and seed mixtures are usually too high in calories and protein for a pet rabbit, for they are formulated for animals in farms.
